LWMA, World Bank discuss Seychelles’ solid waste management project
The construction of a third landfill at Providence has entered its implementation stage, with the World Bank working alongside government to finalise its details.
Scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, the new landfill forms part of the Seychelles Solid Waste Management Project (SWMP). The initiative aims to expand the Providence landfill, reduce environmental risks, and improve operational safety. It also incorporates circular economy practices, including the generation, capture, utilisation, and safe destruction of landfill gases.
