Reverend Jesse Jackson, a leading figure in the American civil rights movement and a two-time presidential candidate, has died at the age of 84.
Rev. Jackson had been living for more than 10 years with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a rare disease that affects movement, balance and swallowing. In 2017, he also shared publicly that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He was admitted to hospital last November as his health worsened.
