Wetlands: Preserving nature, protecting culture
Wetlands are far more than stretches of water and marshland. They are the lifeblood of our environment and a vital part of our cultural heritage. From rivers and freshwater marshes to saltwater marshes that carry water from the mountains to the sea, wetlands serve as natural water catchment areas. They store freshwater, reduce flooding during heavy rains, and provide critical habitats for countless species.
