The Department of Public Administration has celebrated and recognised six long-serving employees who have been with the department for 15 to 40 years at its yearly long-service award.

The long-serving employees were recognised for their loyalty, commitment and dedication to its success in a short ceremony yesterday which was attended by President Danny Faure in his capacity as Minister for Public Administration, employees and invited guests.

The long-serving employees included Endra Ha-Tiff-Fred who has served 15 years, Dorothy Moyes (20 years), Helda Henri (25 years), Michelle Fock-Yune (30 years), Kathleen Adrienne and Jessie Esparon who have both served 40 years.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Mrs Esparon, who also serves as the chief secretary for public administration noted that she started her career in public administration 40 years ago and through the years ventured in other departments such as the ministry of education, the police, SMB and the president’s office.

“It is through these rotation through various departments that gave me the baggage and foundation to have this career for all these years,” said the chief secretary.

She added that her success today are the results of the knowledge that was passed down to her from her various mentors throughout the years and she encouraged the young employees coming up in the department to use their training opportunity as a career in the public sector is vast and fruitful.

Kathleen Adrienne, an economist who began her career in 1979 added that like Mrs Esparon she also ventured in other departments.

She added that perseverance and the love for her work kept her in the public sector all these years.
