Women unite in prayer at World Day of Prayer Service

The World Day of Prayer service took place yesterday evening at St Paul’s Cathedral, bringing together women and girls from the Roman Catholic and Anglican communities in Seychelles.

Organised by the local World Day of Prayer (WDP) committee, the gathering followed the global theme ‘I will give you rest: come’, drawn from Matthew 11:28-30, with the service prepared this year by Christian women from Nigeria.

Participants explored the heavy burdens of shame, systematic oppression, religious prosecution, poverty and despair, while reflecting on the transformative rest offered through God’s grace, community support, and faith. The event emphasised informed prayer and prayerful action, fostering solidarity across cultures as women worldwide united in addressing injustice and seeking peace.
