‘Nothing should divide us when it comes to the well-being of our country and our Nation’ |31 December 2019

“We are once again closing a chapter as we move from the year 2019 to the year 2020. This last decade has truly been a challenging one for the Seychelles people. Among all that has transpired, it has truly been a challenge when we had to stand up against our very own, those who have been entrusted with the safeguarding of our sovereignty, who found it easier to hand over Seychelles on a golden platter for DOLLARS! As ‘Preserve Seychelles’, we made it our priority to ensure that no foreign military base were to find their way on our shores! Up to now, we have managed to delay this from happening, however, we are aware that this remains on the agenda of the Indian government, and some Seychelles leaders as well!

“As we all know, 2020 is the year where Seychellois will be deciding who will be the next President of this country! With this happening, and knowing the current atmosphere out there among our people, the majority finds it safer to remain quiet about this Assomption Saga.

“Briefly, this is what we have to say about this issue; “We will not be blinded, quietened, bribed, or let this slide past us! Assomption featured in the Indian’s budget alongside Agalega, and we have all seen work that is ongoing on Agalega, and we are already hearing the cries of its people.

“Furthermore, we have seen from ‘SPUTNIKNEWS’ in its article entitled; ‘Modi Gov’t appoints new Defence attache in Madagascar to boost Indian Ocean presence …’, the Vanilla Islands are featured quite clearly, and the word SEYCHELLES appeared in the article more than 1 time.

“This speaks volumes and the leaders in this country have to get it clear that the people of Seychelles are not to be fooled, we are not dumb, and will not be taken for a ride on this one.

“The organisation of ‘Preserve Seychelles’ is not only here to defend the territory of Assomption, but the sovereignty of our country and nation on all fronts! With the dawning of the New Year, there are different issues that we have already discussed and placed on our agenda to be looked into and addressed accordingly. We are in the process of creating sub-committees with people who have the expertise in the different fields, to help us as a nation look at and tackle different issues with efficiency!

“One industry that is currently treading on a very fine line, is fisheries! We can see how people who have no competence whatsoever in the field are currently bargaining upon our valuable resources, seeing only money and no further than that! Advice is being given by experts from right here in our living room, but because of given titles, some people think that they can do as they please and will be allowed to get away with it!

“How far and for how long will only a few individuals continue to make millions off the backs and sweats of vulnerable Seychellois? Will we continue to allow big investors to walk away with prime land for developments that do not benefit us directly, while we the people remain homeless, in a queue, waiting for houses that seem like a fairy tale when you think of it?

“‘Preserve Seychelles’ is not against development in our country, but we are for sustainability and we are pro Seychellois! We are also an organisation for Seychelles and the people of Seychelles. We do not look at anyone’s affiliation or beliefs, but our platform is one that remains apolitical!

“We would like to thank each and everyone who has contributed towards our organisation in one way or another and also call on everyone to come together instead of constantly finding the slightest thing to create division amongst us. If we have the same motive, is there a necessity to create duplication?

“Thank you all, and I urge everyone who appreciate and love Seychelles, to remember that when it comes to the well-being of our country and our Nation, that nothing should divide us; not politics, religion or our ethnic group or whatever else that you can think of!

“‘Preserve Seychelles’ is here for Seychelles and its people; we are not here to fulfill the personal agenda of any individuals or politicians. Once again, happy New Year Seychelles, and all Seychelles lovers!

“2020 in Unity for Seychelles!”
