National Sports Council gets new CEO

 

The Office of the President has announced the appointment of Mario Pragassen as the chief executive of the National Sports Council.

Mr Pragassen brings over 21 years of extensive and progressive experience across both the public and private sectors. His career spans military service, security advisory, and youth development, reflecting a strong track record of leadership, discipline, and public service.

Having served in the British Army Infantry, Mr Pragassen developed a solid foundation in leadership and operational effectiveness. He further strengthened his professional profile through his work as a security consultant with the Anti-Corruption Commission, where he gained significant expertise in security management, risk mitigation, and institutional integrity. His depth of knowledge in security-related matters will be instrumental in reinforcing governance frameworks and organisational resilience.

Mr Pragassen is also actively engaged in the development of youth and sports. He is the founder of the Proclub Youth Academy and has contributed to the establishment of the IFS Under-13 programme. He holds a UEFA B Coaching Licence and an Associate Degree in Sports Coaching from Warubi Sports.

The appointment of Mr Pragassen reflects the National Sports Council’s (NSC) commitment to strong leadership, sound governance, and the advancement of its strategic objectives.

Mr Pragassen’s appointment takes effect from April 15, 2026.
