A simple transaction, an unexpected refusal

A Seychellois customer walks into a store, selects an item, and heads to the counter. The payment is simple; a quick tap of a card, something that has become second nature in daily life. But this time, the transaction does not go through.

There is no issue with the bank account. No insufficient funds. No technical failure. Instead, the explanation is unexpected – the transaction has been declined at the level of the payment network itself. The item being purchased has been flagged as a ‘risk’.
