World Bank backs Seychelles on jobs, climate, and stability

Zarau Wendeline Kibwe, executive director for Africa Group 1 Constituency on the World Bank Group’s Executive Boards in Washington, DC, paid a courtesy call on President Patrick Herminie at State House yesterday morning to discuss his mission in Seychelles.

Mr Kibwe explained that his visit had two main objectives: to introduce himself as Seychelles’ representative on the World Bank Board, and to hear directly from the government on how the Bank can support national priorities. “We are talking about how Seychelles is navigating challenges linked to the Middle Eastern crisis,” he said, noting the importance of creating jobs for youth and women, while also addressing climate change as a small island developing state.
