MCSS launches new shark and ray study project in Beau Vallon bay
The Marine Conservation Society Seychelles has officially launched a new research project under the Save Our Seas Foundation Small Grants Programme.
The project focuses on ‘elasmobranchs’, which is the collective term for sharks, rays, skates and sawfish.
Over 40 species of elasmobranchs have been recorded in the local artisanal catch (www.seatizens.sc), highlighting the diversity of sharks and rays sold as food within the Seychelles.
