Sifco leads national push for child cyber safety
The Seychelles Interfaith Council (Sifco) yesterday convened the inaugural meeting of the National Child Protection Cybersecurity Committee, aimed at strengthening the country’s response to online risks affecting children and young people.
The session brought together representatives from government agencies, law enforcement, education, telecommunications, child welfare organisations, cybersecurity experts, parents’ associations, and civil society stakeholders. Discussions focused on developing a coordinated national strategy to:
- Promote safer digital environments for children
- Raise awareness of online harms
- Examine safeguards and possible restrictions on social media platforms and digital services that expose minors to harmful or age-inappropriate content
