Commission hears harrowing testimonies on December prison riot
The Commission of Inquiry into the December 2024 prison riot yesterday heard emotional testimonies from prison doctor Joseph Mills and former inmate Fabio Soopramanien. The incident claimed the lives of two inmates – Francis Ernesta and Jerry Mathiot.
Dr Joseph Mills
Dr Mills, attached to Montagne Posée prison for the past four years, testified that he was at home when the riot broke out on December 5. After contacting prison officials, he arrived at the facility around 5pm, where ambulances were already stationed.
