Venn’s Town moves closer to Unesco status
Following the high-level technical review workshop on the World Heritage nomination of the Mission Ruins of Venn’s Town held in August 2025 at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort and Casino, stakeholders reconvened yesterday at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) to further discuss the proposed nomination draft and management plan.
Seychelles successfully submitted the nomination dossier to the Unesco World Heritage Centre, which was accepted as technically complete in February 2026. This milestone officially moved Seychelles into the international evaluation phase. Yesterday’s session formed part of a series of consultations leading toward the country’s target of inscription in 2027, positioning the Ruins of Venn’s Town to become Seychelles’ first Unesco Cultural World Heritage Site.
