Household Budget Survey to shape new poverty estimates |13 June 2026
The training workshop on poverty measurement
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), with technical assistance from the World Bank, has begun a major exercise to update Seychelles’ national poverty rate using data from the recently completed Household Budget Survey (HBS) 2024–2025.
To keep the public informed, NBS officials – including senior statistician Tania Pouponneau, World Bank economist Hillary Johnson, senior economist Olive Nsababera, and NBS chief executive Kevin Bistoquet – held a media briefing this week following a training workshop on poverty measurement methodologies conducted by World Bank specialists.
