Shining bright: State House glows for Seychelles’ 50 years of independence
As Seychelles prepares to mark its 50th Independence Anniversary, the Office of the President has illuminated the iconic State House in vibrant national colours – a striking symbol of patriotism, unity, and pride.
The dazzling display forms part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, commemorating five decades since Seychelles attained independence on June 29, 1976. Against the night sky, State House radiates as a beacon of resilience and hope, reflecting the Seychellois spirit – united, proud, and forward-looking.
The colours projected across the building embody not only national identity but also the values that continue to guide the nation: love, peace, harmony, and solidarity. Under the national theme ‘Nou Pep, Nou Lidantite, Nou Desten’ (Our People, Our Identity, Our Destiny), the illumination invites all Seychellois to celebrate shared history, achievements, and aspirations.
This symbolic gesture honours the sacrifices of past generations while embracing a future filled with opportunity and progress. As the nation approaches this milestone, the illuminated State House calls on citizens to unite in pride, action, and hope for generations to come.
Happy 50th Independence Anniversary, Seychelles!
