SPNM’s message on the occasion of the 50th Independence Day Anniversary |01 July 2026
‘A celebration of unity and resilience’
“On this historic June 29, our beloved nation marks a remarkable milestone – 50 years of independence, sovereignty, and freedom. We celebrate five decades of resilience, unity, and unyielding island pride.
“Half a century ago, our founders envisioned a nation where every Seychellois could stand tall, self-reliant, and free. Through triumphs and trials, our people have proven that our greatest strength lies in our unity and resilience. We may be a small nation, but we carry a massive heart, bound together by our shared destiny.
“This Golden Jubilee is not only a celebration of our past; it is a launchpad for our future. As we honour our journey, we must also learn from the darker chapters of our history and ensure that no Seychellois is ever oppressed because of ethnicity, political beliefs, or divergent views.
“Let us recommit ourselves to building a Seychelles that empowers our youth, strengthens our economy, and guarantees prosperity and justice for every citizen. Let our politics be about policies, not personal attacks. Let them unite, not divide. Let us build, not destroy, this nation.
“Happy and blessed Independence Day, Seychelles. May God bless our people and our beloved homeland!”
