Passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, former emir of the State of Qatar

President Herminie expresses sympathy to Qatar’s leaders and people

President Patrick Herminie has expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to Qatar’s leaders and people following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, former emir of the State of Qatar.

In a statement sent to H.H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, President Herminie said: “It is with profound sadness that I learned of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

“On behalf of the government and the people of the Republic of Seychelles and in my own name, I extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to your Highness, the Royal family and the people of the State of Qatar during this time of mourning.

“The late Emir's contributions to the development and prosperity of modern Qatar were immense and will be remembered with deep respect. He was also a valued friend of Seychelles, whose enduring goodwill towards our nation will always be cherished.

“Please accept, your Highness, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
