CCCL inquiry: Witnesses detail explosives oversight failures

The Commission of Inquiry into the Civil Construction Company Limited (CCCL) incident of December 7, 2023 continued yesterday at the Court of Appeal conference room, Palais de Justice, Ile du Port, with new witnesses stepping forward.
Testimony of Judith Pierre
Ms Pierre, a retired police officer after 24 years of service, once worked as a Sentry Officer for the Public Order and Tactical Response Unit (POTRU). She began as a security officer and was sometimes sent with workers into the mines, performing day and night duties, occasionally replacing policemen when none were available. She was also posted at the CCCL site in Providence, where she accompanied blasting teams as a watchman.
