Micock’s superb run comes to a halt in the quarterfinals
Seychellois light heavy-weight boxer Jade Micock’s superb run at the ongoing XXIII Commonwealth Games came to an end yesterday when he lost to Indian boxer Ankush Panghal Yadav who entered the men's 80kg semifinals.
Micock missed out on a guaranteed podium medal finish after running into tournament favourite Ankush from India, losing 0-5 on points in their quarterfinal fight at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to reports, the Indian boxer was in complete control of the fight right from the start, dominating the match with ease and clinching a 5-0 judges' decision in three rounds. He was able to demonstrate superb ring craft skills, accurate combos, and clever counter-attacks, not allowing Micock to make a breakthrough. The results were 30-26, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, and 30-27 in favour of Ankush.
