Former President Ramkalawan challenges Assomption Inquiry

• Welcomes 10th Amendment ruling

The 5th President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, will be filing a judicial review in the Supreme Court against two respondents: the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, and the Commission of Inquiry into the Sublease and Development of Assomption Island, represented by its commissioner, Dr Mathilda Twomey‑Woods.

At a press conference held at the Arpent Vert conference room yesterday, Mr Ramkalawan, joined by his lawyer Antony Derjacques, argued that the Commission failed to observe its own regulations. He stated:

“It becomes a question of natural justice and the position they have taken that is outside the law. Based on this, since I was a witness who received a letter stating there were adverse findings, I took all of that into consideration.”
