Purple landmarks honour 26 lives lost to overdose

Seychelles marked International Overdose Awareness Day yesterday with its first Light-Up Ceremony, a symbolic initiative honouring the 26 lives lost to overdose this year while drawing public attention to the growing concerns surrounding substance use and its consequences.

Yesterday evening, several landmarks – the Clock Tower, Bicentennial Monument, and Unity Monument – were illuminated in purple. Purple ribbons were also placed at the Perseverance roundabout, extending the campaign’s message across the community.
