Police announce cremation of unidentified remains recovered at Carana |05 September 2026

The Seychelles Police Force has confirmed that the human remains recovered from the sea at Carana, Glacis, on February 4, 2024 were cremated yesterday, September 4, 2026, in a short ceremony attended by police officers, a Public Health officer, and mortuary staff.
The deceased was identified by the Police Forensic Pathologist as a male believed to be in his forties. Despite overseas DNA testing and comparisons with samples provided by several families, his identity could not be conclusively established.
Following consultations and formalities with the relevant authorities, the remains were cremated in a dignified manner.
