An unusually large sweet potato weighing 11.26kg has been harvested at Sweet Escott, in the Le Jardin du Roi area.
The giant tuber belongs to Marie‑Claire Louise and Timothé Sinon, who said they were astonished by the rare find. “We couldn’t believe the size when we pulled it out of the ground,” they shared, adding that it was unlike anything they had ever grown before.
The family contacted Seychelles NATION to share their joy, noting that the harvest is a striking example of how locally grown produce can thrive under favourable conditions.
The impressive sweet potato has quickly become a talking point among neighbours and fellow growers, highlighting the potential of Seychelles’ fertile soils and traditional farming practices.
