UniSey at 17: From national vision to knowledge hub
Founded in 2009 to provide Seychelles with its own higher education institution, the University of Seychelles (UniSey) has steadily expanded its academic programmes, research capacity and international partnerships while adapting to the country’s evolving needs.
Seventeen years on, UniSey has grown from a young national institution into an increasingly important centre for education, research, innovation and professional development.
For Dr Bernard Monnaie, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Sustainable Development (FBSD), the university’s journey reflects years of gradual growth, institutional strengthening and investment in Seychellois talent. What began as a national vision has now broadened into an ambition for UniSey to serve as a knowledge hub for Seychelles and the wider Indian Ocean region.
