First Seychellois World Cup goal scorer to face Malawi

Remy De Ketelaere, the first Seychellois to score a World Cup goal, will be one of the key players of the home team to watch for in today’s match against Malawi.

De Ketelaere scored two goals for Seychelles at the 2025 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fifa) Beach Soccer World Cup held at the Paradise Arena, the first such competition to take place in an African country.

In the country’s opening match against Belarus – on May 1,  2025 – Seychelles lost 3-6 and one of the home team’s goals was scored by De Ketelaere.

In Seychelles' second match against Guatemala – May 3, 2025 – De Ketelaere netted another as the hosts lost 3-4.

In fact, De Ketelaere is the only survivor of the team who played for Seychelles in the 2025 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup.
