Minister Faure highlights Seychelles-Russia relations and foreign policy priorities at Synergy University
The Minister for Foreign Affairs & the Diaspora, Barry Faure, on Friday delivered a public lecture to students and faculty members at Synergy University in Moscow on behalf of President Patrick Herminie. In his address, Minister Faure outlined Seychelles’ foreign policy priorities and its approach to navigating an increasingly multipolar world, guided by the longstanding principle of being “a friend to all, enemy to none”.
As Seychelles marked 50 years of independence and diplomatic relations with Russia on June 29, 2026, Minister Faure highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two countries and the progress achieved in trade, education, culture, sports and security. In a significant development in bilateral trade, Seychellois tuna exports directly to Russia commenced on October 31 via Aeroflot. He also reaffirmed Seychelles’ intention to establish a resident embassy in Moscow in the first quarter of 2027.
