The Club Liberté Casino, Restaurant and Bar Lounge of Baie Lazare is supporting three organisations in their endeavours.
A donation of R45,908.69 was presented to the Baie Lazare Fisherman’s Association (BLFA), a local cause in the district that supports the local fishing community. The cheque was collected by Jean-Claude Michel, chairman of the association, in the presence of François Adelaide, member of the National Assembly for Baie Lazare.
Mr Michel noted that “this is not the first time that Club Liberté has sponsored our association and we are proud to say that the two previous donations have contributed towards the construction of various facilities on our site at Anse Aux Poules Bleues, namely a stage, a domino shed and the purchase of a container for storage for fishermen”.
The BLFA is very grateful to Club Liberté as these facilities will be beneficial to the local community directly.
Club Liberté general manager, Tommy Gibbons, was very happy to hand over the cheque saying “We are part of the Local community of Baie Lazare and it is important that we as a business support important local initiatives like the fishermen’s association. We have proudly supported this cause over the last three years and it’s a great achievement of the fishermen’s association to see the site develop into an important meeting place for the community with our support. The ongoing plans are really important for the community and we are looking forward to the development of the site as it will create something special for the district”.
The BLFA has a very large ongoing project in developing a piece of donated land in Anse Aux Poules Bleues to generate a community area that will not only support the local fishermen but will also provide a place to teach future generations the crafts that are important in fishing.
The two other organisations that have benefitted from the donations are the Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Foundation (R90,000) and the Rotary Club Victoria Coco De Mer (R2,000).
