SDA church supports health measures against COVID-19 |21 March 2020

In light of the recent outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Seychelles and the numerous precautionary health measures announced, the Seychelles Mission of Seventh Day Adventist Churches (hereinafter referred to as ‘The Church”) would like to confirm its solidarity and support in favour of the health measures issued.

Therefore, taking into account the above strict health instructions issued in regards to public gatherings, the Church has opted to follow these health instructions and suspend its usual Church services in its capacity to assist in curbing the spread of the virus in the Seychelles for a period of two weeks as of March 17, 2020.

On another note, the Church would also like to recognise and salute in a special way the medical team and all other officials who are working tirelessly to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country. The Church reassures all of you that you remain in its fervent prayers for strength, wisdom, health and endurance.

However, it is important for our citizens to be mindful of and follow the health measures given. Additionally, the Church firmly advocates the practice of a healthy lifestyle by eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat. The Church also emphasises sound health principles found in the acronym (NEW START), which represents; Nutrition – Exercise – Water – Sunlight – Temperance – Air –Rest – Trust in God.

In conclusion, even if we are facing difficult times which have been spoken about in the bible, we should keep the faith and hold on to the following promise found in Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
