Police communique Nuisance and noise pollution |27 June 2020

The general public are continuously expressing concerns on the way car parks and public places are being used with unnecessary noise affecting residents in many areas where people frequent to socialise and most of the time to have a drink.

With the new normal in regards to COVID-19 pandemic and closure of some of those hotspots, it has been observed that most of the people who were hanging out at those now closed facilities have moved to other open public places and again they are not behaving responsibly.

To try and address the noise pollution and disturbance the following places will be very closely monitored and controlled:

View Point - The authority have been receiving lots of complaints from residents about noise pollution.

Bel Ombre market - The place will be closed off completely after a certain time of the day (after working hours) due to complaints of loud music emanating from vehicles parked in the location.

Anse Etoile market/Rehabilitation Centre car park - The area at the market and the car park is of concern and members of the public are being urged to use these places with more responsibility and avoid loud music.

Appeal is also again being made to picknickers with regard to noise pollution emanating from loud music.

The police are still waiting the results of the analysis to resolve the case.

The police understand the situation of Mr Derjacques’ close relatives and hope that sooner or later the matter may be put to rest.
