Local telecom company, Intelvision, yesterday donated 50 hand-held infrared thermometers and five ventilators to the department of health to help in the country’s fight against COVID-19.

The batch of medical equipment is the second donation that Intelvision has undertaken in the scope of the pandemic. At the cusp of the pandemic in March, the company donated 3,000 COVID-19 rapid tests kits.

The total cost for all of the equipments donated so far exceeds R5 million, Intelvision indicated in a press release.

It was the chairman of Intelvision, Mukesh Valabhji who officially handed over the medical supplies to Dr Danny Louange, chief executive of the Health Care Agency, in a brief ceremony at the Sheikh Khalifa Diagnostic Centre.

Mr Valabhji reiterated his company’s commitment to help the people of Seychelles since “Intelvision strongly believes that good health is of paramount importance to the country”.

Dr Louange noted that this donation is important for the health department because it specifically targets the pandemic.

He added that Intelvision is amongst some of the health department’s faithful partners and therefore, is always ready to give a helping hand to improve health services.

“Working closely with Intelvision staff, we determined that ventilators were much needed by the health department and I am happy that we have received these five new ventilators which will build our capacity to deal with the worst case scenario,” Dr Louange stated.

Intelvision has also purchased 100,000 over-the-counter vitamin C tablets to help the country stay healthy and it will be donating a packet to each of its customer when they come for bill payments at Intelvision’s offices.
