Man fined R30,000 for drug offence

 

The Supreme Court last week convicted Daniel Georges Fred to a fine of R30,000 to be paid before the end of October 2020.

In default of payment, he is to serve a term of six months’ imprisonment.

Fred, a 36-year-old male mechanic of Rochon, was convicted after he pleaded guilty to the offence of possession of a controlled drug with intent to traffic.

He committed the offence on January 5, 2019, at his home, after 412.19 grammes of cannabis resin (hashish) was seized in his room by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) of the Seychelles Police Force.

Male courier officer remanded in connection with 455.02g of suspected cocaine

 

The Magistrate Court has remanded for 10 days a 40-year-old male courier officer of Roche Caiman for the offence of conspiracy to commit an offence of importation in a controlled drug, among other offences.

The man was arrested on Monday this week by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) of the Seychelles Police Force, at the ANB station, in connection with approximately 455.02 grammes of suspected cocaine, in the form of a parcel, which is under investigation by the ANB.

He will reappear before the court on Friday October 16, 2020.
