General elections ‒ October 22-24 |20 October 2020

Polling stations announced 

As per the Elections Act, the Official Gazette has published the polling stations for the 26 electoral areas as well as the special stations for the forthcoming presidential and National Assembly elections that will take place on October 22, 23 and 24.

A total of 74,634 voters ‒ 36,532 males (49%) and 38,102 females (51%) ‒ have registered to vote in this forthcoming elections.

The different electoral areas and polling stations where voting will take place on October 24 from 7am to 7pm are as follows:

A special polling station at National House will also open on October 24 from 8am to 12 noon for voters from all electoral areas who are temporarily on Mahé and who are registered in electoral areas other than those situated on Mahé.

The special polling stations where voting will take place on October 22 are as follows:

English River Creche School for voters who will be working in essential services and who will be on duty away from their electoral areas on election day as well as voters who will be travelling on October 22, 23 and 24. This polling station will open from 7am to 4pm.

Also on October 22 there will be a polling station at the North East Point Home for the Elderly and it will open from 8am to 12 noon for voters from all electoral areas who are residing at the North East Point Home for the Elderly and patients at the North East Point Hospital.

At the Baie Ste Anne Praslin Primary School from 7am to 12 noon a polling station will open for voters from all electoral areas of Mahé and inner islands who are temporarily residing on Praslin for employment reasons.

At the remand centre in Victoria a polling station will open from 8am to 12 noon for voters who are on remand.

At the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay a polling centre will open from 8am to 12 noon for persons in quarantine.

At the Baie Lazare community centre a polling station will be set up and will open from 9am to 4pm for people from all electoral areas who are temporarily residing at hotel establishments due to the nature of their contractual agreements with their employers by reason of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also on October 22 workers on Silhouette will be able to vote at a polling station at the community centre at La Passe from 9am to 1pm.

People on the different outlying islands will also be able to vote between 10am and 11.30am at polling stations to be set up on Coetivy, Poivre and Farquhar. People on other islands such as Astove, Aldabra, Assomption and other small islands will vote on October 23 between 11am and 11.30am at a polling station set up on Astove. There will also be a polling station on Ile Aux Vaches for people working there as well as those working on Denis Island. The station there will open from 8.15am to 9.30am. A polling station on Fregate Island will open from 3.30pm to 4.30pm for voters working there as well as Ile Aux Récifs.
