Chat with Rodney Henriette, Red Cross volunteer

‘I want to contribute to the humanitarian cause…’

Almost a year ago, Rodney Henriette decided to join the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS) and he says that this is one of the best decisions he has ever made.

One of the most active volunteers during the fight against the Covid-19, Rodney has been involved in the National General Elections’ standby, providing first aid assistance, screening, and the vaccination programme.

He describes his experience with the Red Cross as “rewarding and stimulating and often a lot of fun”.

A cabin supervisor on inter-island ferry Cat Cocos, Rodney celebrated his birthday on March 11. He was born on Praslin, is married and has a daughter.

When asked why he chose the Red Cross, Rodney states that he wanted to contribute towards humanity and do his part towards the call made by the secretary general of the RCSS for more people to join forces and volunteer to improve the lives of those in need.

And on a final note, Rodney has this to say:“During this crisis, it is time to think of what we can do to give back to the society and our people the best that we can, for all that we have been given as heirs to the country. The best we have is our volunteerism.”

The accompanying photos show Rodney in action for the Red Cross.
