Gran Kaz re-opens, launches first ever multi-venue progressive jackpot |14 April 2021

After almost four months being shut down, Gran Kaz reopened its doors with a bang on Monday welcoming clients with the launch of the first ever multi-venue progressive jackpot in Seychelles.

“We are so happy to be operating again and to be able to welcome back our loyal customers, some of whom have been having some serious ‘chicken wings withdrawal’,” Shama Amesbury, the public relations manager jokes.

“We have, however, had to make some adjustments, with the curfew still in place we can no longer stay open until 2am so we have had to shift our closing time to 10pm. This allows staff the time to do their inventory and close up and get home before 11pm. We hope that this will only be temporary and that we will be back to business as usual soon,” she added.

With their doors finally reopen, Gran Kaz is now welcoming customers daily from 10am to 10pm.

Since closing its doors on December 30, 2020 as a second phase of lockdown was announced in an attempt to contain the fresh wave of Covid-19 that had hit the country, Gran Kaz has been making the most of the time to renovate and improve its venue, products and services in preparation to welcome back its loyal customers.

One such novel development is the extension of the Double Nutty Jackpot to all three venues, making it the first ever multi-venue progressive jackpot in Seychelles. The Double Nutty, a well-loved station among regulars, was until now only available in Victoria, in Mercury House. Extending it to Victoria Annex and Bel Ombre has the double benefit of catering for those clients from the North as well as thinning out the crowd in Mercury House to allow for better social distancing.

“Now, customers from the North who love playing the Double Nutty, don’t have to come all the way to town to do so. With the Jackpot in town and Bel Ombre being connected, they won’t miss out on any of the fun or chances to win,” says promotions executive at Gran Kaz, Sharon Banane.

Head of operations at Gran Kaz, Jonathan Paul, explains how a multi-venue progressive jackpot works: “It’s a wide area progressive jackpot that uses a wide area network which essentially means all our venues are digitally connected – this means that customers can win that jackpot at any one of our venues where the machines are located.”

Despite not being able to do an official launch party with invited guests, Gran Kaz still managed to make the day of the re-opening special for customers.

“In order to conform with provisions for staying open laid out by the health authority, we could not have a formal gathering, but we still decided to make the day special by having a Double Nutty double hour; offering coconut themed mocktails and cocktails, we managed to bring the Double Nutty spirit to our customers,” said Ms Amesbury.

Those present on re-opening day were pleasantly surprised by this new addition to the Bel Ombre and annex venues.

“We have had so much positive feedback from customers. They all think it’s a wonderful idea to extend the Double Nutty Jackpot to all venues and they are thrilled that this now means double the chances of winning!” Ms Banane said.

Aside from the new Multi Venue Progressive Jackpot, Gran Kaz has also undergone some extensive maintenance and renovation work.

“We made the most of being closed to the public to take care of some internal works. We have refurbished our kitchens, serviced our products, undertaken a top to bottom deep clean of all venues and installed brand new self-service temperature scanners at the doors,” Mr Paul detailed. “We’re making sure all our health and safety measures are on par to allow us to operate as safely as possible,” he further remarked.

Furthermore Gran Kaz has also used this downtime to provide training for its employees.

“We strive for service excellence here at Gran Kaz. We believe that our customers should be treated in such a way that their experience here cannot be matched elsewhere, so naturally with our doors shut, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to conduct some refresher training for all our service staff,” said Ms Amesbury.
