Newly accredited Danish ambassador pays courtesy call on Minister Radegonde

Following his accreditation ceremony at State House on Tuesday, the newly accredited Danish ambassador, Ole Thonke, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Foreign Affairs & Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Queau de Quinssy.

Minister Radegonde welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Thonke on his accreditation as the new ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Seychelles and conveyed his thanks to his predecessor, Ambassador Mette Knudsen, for her valuable contribution during her tenure.

Minister Radegonde expressed his appreciation for Denmark’s involvement in the EU Navfor Operation Atalanta during the height of piracy in the Indian Ocean.

Both parties also engaged in discussions on the tourism industry, the education sector and the Covid-19 pandemic, among others.

Minister Radegonde also assured the ambassador that Seychelles and Denmark will jointly reinforce cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Present at the meeting was the principal secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Marina Confait, senior officers of the Foreign Affairs department and the honorary consul for Denmark, Basil Soundy.

Seychelles and Denmark established diplomatic relations in 1979.
