Situated in the heart of Victoria, on the grounds of the National Musuem of History, Lansiv Cafe is now fully operational.

This is another feather in the cap of owner Mathew Chanyumwai, who has already invested in three major restaurants in Seychelles.

With the ongoing pandemic, the cost of this project has doubled. “This place became available and it was tendered out. It was a dream for me to have an outlet in town and I tendered to have this place with the management of the museum. But when we got the place, at the same time we were in the middle of a lockdown. The musuem’s management wanted the place to be opened quite fast so we started working on the project. Even during lockdown we were working to get the place ready and now finally after six months, we see the result.”

Lansiv Café offers a variety of European, Seychellois/Mauritian cakes. “We have Tarte Patate Douce, Tarte aux Cocos, puits d’amour, carré rouge etc. We have tried to have a mixture of European cakes with local products. We also offer salads, sandwiches and a menu of the day consisting mainly of creole food with fresh juices, tea and coffee. Having pains fourrées in Seychelles is a new concept just like with Moloko where we offer Mauritian dishes, here also we are trying to sell a mixture of Seychellois and Mauritian cakes.”

Lansiv Café is run by only Seychellois staff. “I have six people running the show – 2 in production and four in the café. After ten days of operation, people are coming and the turn-out is good. The feedback from clients is excellent and we hope we are able to bring something extra to the life of our town.”

Mathew Chanyumwai is a Mauritian but has lived in Seychelles for the last 24 years. “I cannot describe my love for Seychelles – I love the people, the peacefulness, and the ambiance and for me Seychelles is the best country to live in in the whole world.”

Lansiv Café is open from 6.30am to 6pm.
