Waven William elected member of IPU’s committee on sustainable development for Africa region
Honourable Waven William, representative of Grand Anse Mahé in the National Assembly, has been elected a member of the Bureau of theInter-Parliamentary Union committee on sustainable development for the Africa region.
The committee on sustainable development is one of the four permanent committees of the IPU and meets two times each year.
“It is an appointment that is quite important and significant for our National Assembly. Honourable William had to contest for this position against other candidates in the African region,” noted Speaker Roger Mancienne yesterday.
Hon. William will hold this seat on this committee for the next two years.
The National Assembly secretariat notes that Hon. Waven William has always been passionate about issues relating to international organisations, and that he has previously participated actively in the drafting of several resolutions including one on climate change that was adopted at the 139th General Assembly held in Switzerland.
