TRNUC closes down temporarily as a result of Covid-19 |24 June 2021

Mrs McIntyre
As a result of Covid-19, the Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) has closed down its office temporarily and will resume its public hearings on July 8, 2021.
The announcement was made live by the chairperson of the commission, Gabrielle McIntyre, yesterday morning.
She said the commission had to close down for public hearing as a result of a commissioner being tested positive for the virus, another is awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test while a third one has had a close family member tested positive. She added that all three commissioners are required to be isolated for fourteen days.
Mrs McIntyre said that as an infected person had been at the premises of the commission, it will be closed for extensive cleaning while some other commissioners and staff will also be isolated for fourteen days. The commission is expected to open on July 7, 2021 and will recommence its hearing the following day (July 8, 2021).
All hearing sessions scheduled for the end of June and early July 2021 will be rescheduled and communication of their revised dates will be announced in due course.
Mrs McIntyre stated that the commission apologises for any inconvenience caused and wished the commissioners and their families, including all other persons infected with the virus, a speedy recovery.
She expressed the commission’s deep appreciation to the health authorities for their assistance to the commission.
To avoid speculations, Mrs McIntyre clarified that commissioner Michael Green is currently overseas undergoing a surgery on both of his eyes and will resume with his duties in July 2021.
