100th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China United Seychelles attends CPC World Political Parties Summit |08 July 2021

On July 1 this year the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrated 100th year since its inception.

To mark the occasion, a Virtual World summit was organised on the evening of July 6 under the theme ‘For the people’s wellbeing: the responsibility of political parties”.

The summit, which was attended by over 160 countries, 15 heads of State and more than 500 leaders of political organisations including the United Seychelles party was chaired by His Excellency President Xi Jin Ping who also delivered the keynote address.

CPC and United Seychelles have shared excellent ties of friendship and cooperation for several decades now and CPC has, and continues to contribute towards the socio economic development of the Seychelles. The United Seychelles like the other political parties attended the Summit with a strong delegation of 20 participants headed by the party leader, Dr. Patrick Herminie; the deputy leader, Jacquelin Dugasse; and the secretary general, Ambassador Dick Esparon. Most, if not all of the United Seychelles delegates were the young, newly elected national executive members. The Summit afforded these young politicians the opportunity to learn and share the experiences and knowledge of political authorities from all over the world.

In his address, President Xi Jin Ping emphasised on the fact that as humankind we live in a global village which is evolving into a community that is interlinked with a shared future and that the outbreak of Covid-19 has proven that.

He talked about the need for solidarity and cooperation among countries in order to confront the many challenges and difficulties affecting the world.

He described political parties as the “fountainhead” of national policies and proponent of people’s interests, and that they play an important role in the political life of countries.

He continued by asking all political parties to share the responsibility and common objective to ensure the wellbeing of their people.

He further noted that development and democracy are the rights of all rather than the privileges of a few.

The party leader of United Seychelles was also invited to make a statement to mark the occasion. Dr Herminie congratulated His Excellency President Xi Jin Ping and the CPC and he highlighted the fraternal ties and solidarity between our two parties.

He did not hesitate to applaud China for its extraordinary accomplishment in alleviating absolute poverty and the quest of China to continue to work for the benefit of mankind.

He saluted the role that China is playing on the world’s stage and the extraordinary friendship between China and Africa while respecting and appreciating the sovereignty of these countries.

Dr Herminie is convinced that China will continue to play a pivotal role to help developing nations and as the CPC, the US also believes that people should always be at the centre of development and that peace and prosperity must be shared and enjoyed by all.
