45th National Inter-School Athletics Championships

  •          Shaping the country’s sporting identity

 

First launched in the late 1970s, the National Inter-School Athletics Championships quickly became a cornerstone of the national school sports calendar.

Initially held annually to coincide with Seychelles' Independence Day celebrations, the event grew in scope and participation over the years, bringing together over 1,100 young athletes from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, competing in primary, and secondary school categories, alongside those from the various local post-secondary institutions (now professional centres).

However, by 2014 – the 38th – the championships marked a pivotal shift, moving the event to June 18 to coincide with Constitution Day, reflecting a modern commitment to both sport and national pride.
