Club Med Seychelles celebrates National Day with pride and patriotism

Club Med Seychelles joined the nation in commemorating the 49th anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence by hosting a special National Day celebration for its staff, with a particular focus on its Seychellois employees.

The event was held on Sunday June 29, 2025 in the heart of the resort, bringing together staff and invited guests in a warm display of patriotism and unity.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Sherin Francis, principal secretary for Tourism, and Bernadette Willemin, director general for Destination Marketing at the Tourism department.

The gathering took place at the resort’s main entertainment theatre, where the Seychelles national flag was raised in a solemn moment of reflection and national pride.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, staff and guests shared in the significance of the occasion, honouring Seychelles’ journey as an independent nation and its vibrant cultural identity.

Welcoming the guests, Club Med Seychelles’ general manager, Trishi Sunassee, underscored the importance the resort places on embracing the cultural heritage of the destinations where it operates.

“We believe in the multi-cultural nature and realities of all our resorts and our employees are the fittest examples of this belief,” he stated. “We embrace the Seychelles spirit with the utmost passion and we are pleased that the National Day mood is so poignant at our resort today.”

Principal secretary Sherin Francis expressed her appreciation for the initiative taken by Club Med Seychelles to honour this important national milestone, especially by recognising those Seychellois staff who were on duty during the day.

“We have one of the most beautiful natural settings, we are blessed with pleasant weather all year long without any fear of cyclones, we offer a very secure environment for the visitors,” she said. “But the added on competitive advantage that we have is our Seychelles spirit which encapsulates our culture. This is our music, our food, our lifestyle and our identity as a Creole nation. This is what makes us strong and vigorous.”

She also added that it was a privilege to mark this occasion alongside Seychellois employees, as a tribute to their commitment and dedication to the tourism industry, which remains a vital pillar of the national economy.

During the gathering, Mrs Francis also took the time to meet with several Seychellois employees, exchanging views and sharing the spirit of camaraderie and national unity that marked the event.
