After years of loyal service safeguarding Seychelles’ waters, patrol ship M/V Topaz, one of the nation’s most iconic vessels, was officially decommissioned yesterday and will be laid to rest offshore behind Conception Island today, May 9, 2026.
Stripped of all components that could harm marine life, the vessel will be sunk to create an artificial reef — transforming its legacy into a living marine habitat and dive attraction.
