Orange Day sparks action against gender‑based violence
Every 25th of the month, the colour orange stands as a global symbol of hope, solidarity, and collective action against gender‑based violence (GBV). In Seychelles, Orange Day is used to raise awareness of GBV, encourage communities to speak out, support survivors, and take action to prevent violence.
The urgency is clear. According to the Family and Equality Department, Seychelles recorded 516 reported cases of GBV in 2025 – 404 involving women and 112 involving men. Alarmingly, 247 victims were under 18, underscoring the vulnerability of children and young people.
