Malagasy Mamy (in blue) scored in LightStars’ impressive victory over Anse Reunion

LightStars sweep aside Anse Reunion

LightStars swept aside La Digue side Anse Reunion 4-1 at Stad Amitié on Wednesday afternoon in a SeyPearl Premier League match.

The two teams cancelled each other out in a goalless first half but the players of former Anse Reunion player and coach Ted Esther broke the deadlock early in the second period through Malagasy striker Paul Bruyelle for a 1-0 lead.

Anse Reunion though levelled matters minutes later when they won a penalty awarded by referee Bernard Camille and which was easily dispatched by their Malagasy striker Iavo for his third goal in two matches for a 1-1 score.

LightStars regained their advantage midway in this half as Malagasy midfielder Mamy netted for a 2-1 score and Bruyelle then bagged his brace to stretch his team’s lead to 3-1 before the Praslin outfit were also awarded a penalty which was tucked away by defender Albert Rose for a final 4-1 scoreline.

The win has helped LightStars to leapfrog their opponents into sixth position with four matches more for them to play to complete their league campaign and coach Esther was pleased with the result when he spoke to Sports NATION after the match.

“We had a very good performance in the second half after a not satisfactory first period and it was overall a good result,” the LightStars coach told Sports NATION.
