President Ramkalawan conducts series of visits

President Wavel Ramkalawan returns to the country today following a five-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates where he engaged in key meetings and on Tuesday undertook a series of visits to three key institutions.

The presidential delegation which also comprised Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Sylvestre Radegonde, Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Jean-Claude Adrienne and third secretary in the department of foreign affairs, Jonathan Pool, first visited the Abu Dhabi Port (Khalifa Port) where they received a guided tour from the chief executive Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi.

President Ramkalawan met with the port management and attended a presentation on the overall organisation and day-to-day mode of operation of the port.

Later in the day, the president visited Masdar City, which is considered a pioneer in sustainability and a hub for research and development, spearheading innovations to realise greener, more sustainable urban living. The tour was led by the director of energy services, Khaled Ballaith and accompanied by the director of clean energy, Yousif Al Ali.

This visit was an opportunity for President Ramkalawan to explore areas of possible exchange between the UAE and Seychelles, particularly in the area of sustainable living and green energy technology potentially beneficial in line with Seychelles’ sustainable development strategy.

President Ramkalawan also got the opportunity to visit the new Abu Dhabi International Airport. He was welcomed by the chief executive of Abu Dhabi Airport, Shareef Alhashmi and the chief programmes officer, Engr. Saeed Salem Salem Al Hosani.
