Luna Spa has officially reopened in Seychelles after being closed for a year due to the pandemic.
The founder and spa therapist, Susanna Gyongyosi, returned to her home country for about eight months last year, and used this time to study a new course that would enable her to introduce her own line of natural skincare products.
Susanna is from Hungary and has been working as a spa therapist since 2003; she has been offering her spa and beauty services in Seychelles since 2017.
Now, after returning to Seychelles and with a license for manufacturing skincare products, she is working on setting up SeyLuna Beauty Lab where she will mix and prepare more than 30 of her own skincare products.
The skincare line, which she already uses as part of treatments in Luna Spa, is made up of fresh, handmade, organic and natural products which are designed to promote healthier skin.
The products’ ingredients include those found locally like coconut, cinnamon, lemongrass, ginger, patchouli and aloe vera, as well as other ingredients which Susanna imports from Europe, such as natural essential oils, natural collagen, retinol and peptides.
The SeyLuna brand consists of a vast range of products: face washes and scrubs, body scrubs and lotions, soaps, masks, shower gels, beauty serums, an intimate wash with Tea Tree oil, day creams with sun protection, night creams, as well as products for ageing skin, pigmentation, pimples, acne and problematic skin. Options are available for all skin types – oily, normal, combination and normal skin.
It was when she introduced the micro-needling treatment at her spa two years ago that Susanna began taking more of an interest in skincare products.
Micro-needling, which is used for treating a range of skin problems, works by depositing ingredients like vitamin C deeper into the skin, and this is what prompted Susanna to begin experimenting with different ingredients to make her own beauty serums.
Another new addition to the spa is the SeyLuna Superlift Facial which helps to improve the skin’s texture by depositing vitamins, collagen, hyaluronic acids and peptides into the skin.
The machine utilised for this treatment can perform skin rejuvenating procedures such as hydro-abrasion, microdermabrasion, mesotherapy, ultrasound and massage.
In the future, Susanna is hoping to expand her skincare line to produce even more SeyLuna brand products. She aims to have her products being sold in pharmacies and to sell them to hotels and spas around the country.
She also plans on expanding her spa and growing her team members, to be able to offer even more services to her clients.
Susanna tells us that another area she wants to delve into is in offering courses, teaching clients who are, like her, passionate and interested about massage and skincare treatments.
