Seychellois poet Magie Faure-Vidot among 22 recipients of an international writers’ award |27 August 2021

Seychellois poet Magie Faure-Vidot Vijay-Kumar recently featured among 22 poets and writers worldwide who were awarded the World Poetic Pillars Awards 2020-2021.
The awards, an initiative of the World Nations Writers Union (WNWU), were in honour of the late Kazak founder of the union poet, composer, translator, songwriter and journalist Kairat Duissenov Parman.
Among the criteria taken into consideration by the WNWU to choose the recipients were the possible impact of the poetry on their respective national front and beyond, quality of the work and research in them, their ability to inspire the global literary fraternity…
Asked about the work she has submitted as entries for the award, Mrs Vijay- Kumar said she did not submit any entries but she posts her poetry works on the Motivational Strips which is considered as the world’s most active writers’ forum and she is also a member of the WNWU and the two bodies are afiliated and can choose any piece posted on the forum.
Mrs Vijay-Kumar said it is always a great honour and deep joy for her and poetry in general when she is rewarded for one of her works.
«It shows that the quality of my writing and my great interest in global literature does not go unoticed. I love poetry which is also a way to share and foster peace, love and friensdhip,» said Mrs Vijay-Kumar.
She admits that she posts a piece of her work on the Motivational Strips as often as she can and her poetry works are on a wide range of topics such as nature, the environment, love of course, friendship and more recently the new normal.
During the course of her career as a poet and writer which spans many years, Mrs Vijay-Kumar has won numerous prizes including the Coupe de la Ville de Paris, a Lyre d'honneur, and six silver and numerous bronze medals in various international literary competitions and she has represented her country at many international poetry festivals and other initiatives.
