CBS lifts suspension on operations of Thompson (Seychelles) Ltd |14 January 2022

The Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) has lifted the condition suspending operations of Thompson (Seychelles) Ltd, permitting the bureau de change (BDC) to resume its operations of buying and selling foreign currency only in the form of notes, coins and traveller’s cheques, effective Thursday January 13, 2022.

The CBS decision to lift the suspension on the operations of the BDC – imposed on December 7, 2021 – is in accordance with section 53(3) of the Financial Institutions Act, 2004, having considered the outcome of an investigation by law enforcement authorities against an administrator of Thompson (Seychelles) Ltd.

CBS is committed to its supervisory role of the financial services sector as per the regulatory framework in place and remains proactive in ensuring the proper operation of all licensed entities under its regulatory purview.
