Today, February 22, 2022 (or 22.2.22), 47 weddings will take place in Seychelles. A record number according to the Civil Status.
Both tourists and Seychellois have chosen the special Twosday to have their big day and make it memorable.
On February 2, 2022 (02.02.2022) also, the Civil Status registered 17 weddings. “For the last three years that I have been working at the Civil Status office, I have never seen such a number of weddings. For sure, we will all be busy on that day and we will have to work overtime if need be as some weddings are on the inner islands. Out of the 47 couples getting married today, 7 are Seychellois,” noted Nada Francourt from the Civil Status department at the Immigration Office.
Recently awarded as the World’s Most Romantic Destination, Seychelles keeps attracting more young couples and honeymooners.
The principal secretary for Tourism, Sherin Francis, stated that what we are seeing happening is the ‘Seychelles Experience’ which Seychelles has been selling.
“Seychelles is synonymous to Romance and is recognised as a romantic destination where people come and get married or come to renew their vows and for honeymoon. It is a remarkable milestone to have so many weddings on that day. Seychelles is already a marvellous backdrop for the ideal wedding. With the number of private wedding planners and the Tourism department, we assure our visitors that we are all set to accompany you in your wonderful journey here. Twosday for us mean we have to celebrate love and we wish all the new couples a happy marriage and hope for their return back to our islands. Seychelles is definitely becoming more and more attractive,” shared Mrs Francis.
To recall, Seychelles won the World's Most Romantic Destination title for the second consecutive year at the 28th World Travel Awards in December 2021.
