STC imposes control on sale of sunflower oil amid volatility in global trade |04 April 2022
As a result of the volatile world situation at present and its impacts on trade, the Seychelles Trading Company (STC) is taking necessary measures to ensure availability of essential goods on the market.
To this end, in view of the fact that Sunflower oil is becoming scarce on the international market and its prices is continually increasing, STC has taken the initiative to impose certain control on the sale of its current stock of sunflower oil to ensure that its stock last throughout these challenging times.
These restrictions come into effect as of today, Monday April 4, 2022 until further notice.
Same will apply to both its retail and wholesale outlets on Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
The restrictions are as follows:
At STC wholesale
- The 2 and 5-litre sizes only shall be sold to hotels, restaurants and catering services (HORECAS group) only at a price of R40 per litre (wholesale price).
- In the case of retailers, the two brands of oil, namely Inci and Bonzaro, will be sold to them at a subsidized price of R35 per litre (wholesale price).
- Retailers shall also be able to purchase the STC one litre sunflower oil at a subsidized price of R20.65 per litre (R413 for one carton of 20 one-litre bottles), but limited to 5 cartons per week per retailer.
- All retailers must present their copy of business license in order to purchase the oil. This is to ensure that oil destined for retailers are being sold to retailers only.
- In relation to the above, no sunflower oil shall be sold to cash customers.
At STC Hypermarket
- Within hypermarket, STC oil of one litre will remain available to all retail customers at a subsidized RRP price of R23.75
- Each customer can purchase a maximum of 3 x 1 litre (STC sunflower oil) per purchase.
Once again, STC is encouraging all its customers to act responsibly during these challenging and difficult times, believing that through the cooperative support of every one, we will be able to overcome these challenges together.
